Marks & Spencer celebrate 100 years in Scotland with the Centenary Taste Trail

Marks & Spencer is celebrating 100 years of serving Scotland with a Centenary Taste Trail, a special four-month food tour of five Scottish locations. The trail has already stopped off at Dundee and Edinburgh, and will soon be popping up in Inverness, Aberdeen and Glasgow.

The first Scottish M&S store was opened in Dundee in the autumn of 1918, and the brand has been a firm favourite ever since. Our high streets wouldn’t be the same without it, and we’re pretty sure M&S will be around for another 100 years to come.

At the taste trail events, you can join customers and colleagues of past and present at the ‘festival of food’ where there will be free food tastings and a demo kitchen, as well as face painting and shortbread decorating for children - plus other local foodie treats.

Local M&S producers Old Curiosity Distillery and Dawnfresh will also be on hand to hold talks and tastings. Dawnfresh will offer visitors delicious smoked salmon and smoked trout, whilst Old Curiosity will showcase its amazing colour changing gin and brand new non-alcoholic G&T. 

The M&S ‘Centenary Taste Trail’ showcases Marks & Spencer’s partnerships with over 40 Scottish suppliers and 4,000 Scottish farms while exhibiting never-before-seen archive photography of local communities, specially commissioned by the M&S Archive.

In you fancy joining in the fun, look out for events coming soon to your local M&S store. The Centenary Taste Trail will stop off at the following locations:

  • Inverness M&S, Eastgate Shopping Centre – Saturday 20th October from 10am- 5pm

  • Aberdeen M&S, Northern Atrium, Union Square Shopping Centre – Saturday 3rd November from 10am-5pm

  • Glasgow M&S, Argyle Street, Glasgow – Saturday 26th January from 10am-5pm
