We all have songs that mean more to us than others, with lyrics that remind us of a specific time in our lives or comfort us when we need it. And that’s exactly the essence that Scottish singer-songwriter Angela Musk hopes to capture in her brand-new EP, Letters, which is being released today.

The much-anticipated 4-track EP showcases a series of songs that Angela has written in the style of a letter, with each addressing an issue that we might find difficult to discuss in person, exploring themes such as grief, death and struggling with love, as well as childhood, freedom and acceptance.

Letters is the follow-up to Angela’s first EP, Inspiration, which she released when she was just 16 years old. Having built a reputation for honest, direct lyrics paired with beautiful melodies, we think this latest release is sure to be popular.

Discussing the themes in her work, Angela tells Hood: “The songs in Letters aren’t afraid to address subjects which are painful, but perhaps not discussed very openly within society. The first track ‘Can I let Go’ was written as a letter to my mother - it talks about all the things that I would love to do with her if she was still here.  I reflects over on the beautiful memories I have, all the memories I wish I could make, yet also explore the feeling of no longer wanting to reflect on the painful time when she was in her final days. The song asks permission to let go of those painful memories and the guilt of not feeling close to her anymore, yet still maintain the feeling of immeasurable love for her. I really hope that each of the tracks will speak to people from all different walks of life. The four songs address difficult emotions that are universally relatable but also notoriously difficult to talk about.”

Angela Musk’s Letters will be available on all major digital download/streaming sites from today.
