Lily-Rose Depp

AN INTERVIEW WITH CHANEL MAKEUP ARTIST NINA PARK

What were your sources of inspiration for her look?
With her beautiful black lace CHANEL Couture gown, Lily-Rose wanted to lean into Old Hollywood glam. Her hair reflected that inspiration, so I wanted the makeup to speak to the dress. I kept it modern with a graphic, dark-rimmed eye that defined the eyes with depth. The cheeks were kept soft and natural, to balance the bold eye, and everything was finished with Lily-Rose’s go-to lip look.

Any clever tips?
For longer-lasting eyeliner, I used a Q-tip to gently clean the waterline before makeup application. This simple step helped to create a clean space, prevented smudging, and ensured the eyeliner stayed put.

Margaret Qualley

AN INTERVIEW WITH CHANEL MAKEUP ARTIST tyron macchausen

What were your sources of inspiration for her look?
I was inspired by Margaret’s stunning black, velvet gown and I wanted to create a makeup look that exuded both effortless glamour and felt timeless – very “French girl chic” à la Inès de La Fressange meets Jane Birkin.

Any clever tips?
After a light facial massage, I prepped Margaret’s skin with the CHANEL Hydra Beauty Camellia Water Cream Illuminating Hydrating Fluid and then applied CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Yeux Ultimate Eye Cream around the delicate area of the eyes.

Next was the complexion. I used the CHANEL Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch in B20 and B30 and applied the lighter shade onto the center of the face, for a lit-from-within effect. Then, I added hint of CHANEL Joues Contraste Intense Cream-to-Powder Blush in Rose Radiant onto the apples of the cheeks for a flushed, fresh-faced look.

For the eye look, I applied CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Ébène onto the inside of the upper waterline, followed by two coats of CHANEL Le Volume de CHANEL Mascara in Noir. Next, I added wash of the two lighter shades of CHANEL Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Clair-Obscur all over the lid, for added dimension, as well as a dab of CHANEL Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick in Transparent onto to the center of the lid, for extra glow.

LUPITA NYONG’O

AN INTERVIEW WITH CHANEL MAKEUP ARTIST NICK BAROSE

What were your sources of inspiration for her look?

To complement Lupita’s CHANEL Haute Couture gown, which was adorned with beautiful, iridescent pearl details, I drew my inspiration from the ultra-glamorous 90’s CHANEL runway shows. I worked to play up both the eyes and the lips, for extra drama. Since the overall look was monochromatic pearls, I also added pops of color, with pearlized highlight, into the makeup look.

Any clever tips?
To add a pop of colour onto the high points of the cheeks, I blended the richly pigmented CHANEL Joues Contraste Intense Cream-to-Powder Blush in Grenat Profond onto the tops of the cheekbones and ran the product towards the ears. Additionally, to provide an extra “pop” to the eyeshadow look, as well as to ensure a long-lasting wear, I first applied CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Multi-Use Top Coat in Blanc Perle onto the eyelids.

Halle Berry

AN INTERVIEW WITH CHANEL MAKEUP ARTIST HUNG VANNGO

What were your sources of inspiration for her look?
Halle wore a metallic, laser-cut mirrored gown, so I was inspired by James Bond. I aimed to create a modern take on the Bond girl.

Any insider tips?
For a more cohesive makeup look, I added a touch of CHANEL Joues Contraste Intense Cream-to-Powder Blush in Grenat Profond onto both the cheeks and the crease of the eyelids.
