Don't be stuck indoors this Easter - here's the best kid-friendly activities happening over the Easter weekend

The school holidays can be tricky to fill up with fun, exciting activities for the little ones - whatever their age. With the Easter holidays on the horizon, now’s a great time to start planning ahead and booking in a series of child-friendly activities to keep them busy (and keep you feeling sane!).

There’s a huge host of activities going on across Scotland during Easter weekend (10-13 April, if you haven’t got it in the diary yet), and we’ve done the hard work for you and rounded up the very best of them, so that you and the whole family can enjoy some quality time together this Easter.

Play Days at Festival Theatre, Edinburgh

If your young one is interested in the arts, then this week of workshops at Festival Theatre is a great choice. They’ll get hands-on experience of stage craft, learn different art forms, make props and costumes, and at the end of each day, they’ll have created a piece of theatre to share.

Easter Trail at The Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh

Follow the Botanics Bunny and learn about the elements together. You’ll discover how the plants and animals in the garden interact with earth, water, air and fire. Suitable for all ages.

The Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh

Kids go free at The Royal Yacht Britannia this Easter, so if you’ve always wanted to see the sights of one of Scotland’s top attractions, this is the time to do it. Each child aged 5-17 must bring a cuddly toy in order to gain free admission (children under 5 go free), and the offer is valid for up to two children per paying adult.

Pop In & Paint at The Wee Art Studio, Glasgow

Little artists will love the opportunity to make their own mini masterpiece at this series of drop-in classes, suitable for over-5s.

Betway Easter Saturday at Musselburgh Racecourse, East Lothian

Who knew a glamorous day at the races would suit the whole family? Head down to Musselburgh Racecourse on Easter Saturday for a day of top racing and the £100,000 Queen’s Cup, as well as live music, free kids' entertainment and even a visit from the Easter Bunny!

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts, venues across Scotland

Bring the whole family together this Easter to the famous Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts. Get ready for a weekend of fun, and discover the amazing places the National Trust for Scotland looks after. Follow the trails, solve the clues and finish your adventure with a Cadbury chocolate treat.​ There’s 11 Hunt venues across Scotland, so there’s sure to be one near you.

Go Wild at RSPB Scotland, Loch Lomond

Bring the whole family along for springtime adventures, nature crafts and an Easter egg hunt at RSPB Scotland Loch Lomond. Explore the paths, go in search of mini-beasts and take part in a treasure hunt in the woods. Wellies are recommended for off path adventurers.
