How do you do denim? With editor, Maxine Eggenberger

At any given time, more than half the world’s population is wearing denim, so it’s safe to say the fashionable fabric will never be stripped of its iconic status. The hardest-working wardrobe staple, should your denim collection require a chic refresh for the season ahead, I know just where to turn. Next has always been a place that I can browse confident that, whatever I’m looking for, I’m sure to find the solution on its rails or on its website.

What I love most about Next is how they manages to predict precisely what I want to buy before I even realise it. And its latest denim drop doesn’t disappoint. Like so many women, I always dread jeans shopping, but Next has so many key styles, it’s impossible not to find your perfect pair and fit! I’m also equally impressed by its endless array of denim that isn’t jeans, with elegant jumpsuits, jackets with on-trend puff sleeves, and blouses adorned with pretty collars. But don’t take my word for it—let me show you. I road-tested some of Next’s hottest denim pieces, just in time for the newfound freedoms we’re being granted. My verdict? Let’s just say I see a lot of indigo in my future.

Whether it’s the beachfront or the cobbles, I love exploring my surroundings on foot. If you feel the cold like me, a jacket is crucial. I’ve set my sights on this puff- sleeve number, which looks incredible worn with slim-fit jeans for a double-denim look.

Top Tip: For all the times you’ve thought a 12 was too snug and a 14 was too loose, Next has you covered. Shop from a range of jeans available in sizes in-between! Dreams really do come true when sizes 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 are ready and waiting for you!

There’s nothing I enjoy more than setting the world to rights with a friend over a glass of wine. Though this will have to occur outdoors for the foreseeable, this chic denim jumpsuit is up to the challenge.

From left to right: Bag, £26; Jumpsuit, £52; Earrings, £14; Jumpsuit, £62; Sandals, £42

Top Tip: When temperatures peak, a simple switch of accessories will make this ensemble feel more summery. I’m planning on styling both the blue and beige jumpsuits with tan sliders and a raffia crossbody.

Although I like working from home, one of my favourite parts of the day is heading out for a caffeine fix. Typically I’ll be on Zoom straight after, so I ensure I look the smart part by wearing a blazer and shirt or pretty blouse with my super- soft, straight-leg jeans.

From left to right: Blazer, £58; Shirt, £24; Shoes, £42; Vest, £28; Jeans, £24

Top Tip: I’m easing myself back into wearing heels, and Next have so many excellent styles to choose from. For comfort, I’m gravitating towards midi heels—this slingback option is a gorgeous addition to my collection.

Jeans and blouses form most of my my go-to outfits, so naturally I gravitated towards this combination. Heavier than the usual cotton options, this denim collared blouse is ideal for socialising outdoors as it’ll keep in the heat.

From left to right: Loafers, £48; Blouse, £28; Sunglasses, £14; Jeans, £30; Loafers, £42

Top Tip: Loafers are trending in a big way right now; I plan on wearing them throughout the warmer months by way of Next's backless numbers.

Picnicking is my spring pastime of choice, as it presents an opportunity to catch up with friends whilst basking in the heat and eating delicious treats. The ideal throw-on, this maxi dress is going to be my warm-weather saviour. Once again, I refuse to leave the house without my puff-sleeve denim jacket.

From left to right: Dress, £42; Bag, £28; Necklace, £22; Trainers, £40; Dress, £40

Top Tip: I know good dresses, and Next has some of the best I’ve seen for 2021. This denim midi has also made its way onto my wish list; buy it a size up for a relaxed silhouette.
